Introducing the "Quiet family"...

When I was really young I remember sitting in the dentist chair and to keep us occupied the dentist would give us these little piggies to play with while we were there. When I became a mother I made this roll of "quiet people" for my children to play with but they only got to play with it at the doctors office or during church or anywhere I needed them to stay very quiet.

I used to keep the roll with me in my purse. When I brought them out I reminded my children that these people have no mouth so they were very quiet. (that was about 13 years ago...I could never sell them today.)

I needed to come up with an inexpensive idea for the gymnastics auction coming up and this is my take on the "quiet people." I called them the "quiet family."

I found these really cute little boxes...It was just what I was looking for.

I painted the little people with acrylic paint and put a label on the inside of the box to remind the children to play quietly.

I think they turned out pretty cute and I did the entire project in about 1 hour. Total cost for me to make about $6.00 each...Maybe you will feel inspired to make your own memory for your kids to play with...cloth or wood :o)

Those are so cute! I remember when my kids were smaller looking for some of those soft covered books that had snaps or shoelaces to do. This looks more fun. I like the soft ones and the wooden toys. Great idea for the auction.

I can't believe I haven't visited in so long.... your new site design looks wonderful!

I think I will make some of these for Christmas....

Congratulations to your daughter on her recent achievement! I know that took a lot of practice and hard work.

Have a wonderful evening!

LOVE your photos and your new blog look! Also LOVE those 'quiet' people. DO you have an etsy shop?? Or do you sell them on your blog?? I would be interested in a set, how much are they?

Blessings, Lynn

Hello Stork, I am Robin! and very pleased to meet you.
found your blog just this evening (by way of...? i forget! 8-O), and am loving it already.

darling "quiet people," what a clever idea. think i prefer the cloth family, as they would be quieter in a toddler's hands than the wood. charming hair and faces on the little wooden friends.

wonderful time of year to be reminded of the value of Simple gifts...thank you.

This is just the answer to what I have been looking for. Something to keep the kids quiet when I really need them to be. (Like the other day during family pictures and we were waiting....) Thank you! I am so so exited, I am going to try to do this for Christmas. (-:

Oh, I love them! How cute, and what a neat way to pass waiting time! I think I like the roll and fabric ones better, but both are cute.

Simply Stork said...

Hi carrie and welcome :o)

I found the wooden pegs at michaels...(package item) they were about $2.50 or so for the package and located by the wooden dowels...

If you do this project please take a photo I'd love to see how they turned out...:o)
